Type of surface: Will you be printing on porous or non-porous surfaces? What kind of material is it? What is the texture?

Environmental factors: Will any moisture accumulate on the printing surface? Will the printing occur in extreme temperatures? Should the ink be resistant to heat or cold temperatures?

Production atmosphere: Will the industrial inkjet printer be expected to print high volumes on a regular basis? Will it be exposed to dust? Will it be around any other manufacturing/construction equipment, or will it be isolated in a clean office/room?

Size of text and images: Will the printer need to print primarily small or very small text for items such as barcodes or labels? Will it need to produce any large graphics?
